A Timeless Retreat
When the clients became empty nesters and caregivers for an aging parent, they reimagined an underused catch-all storage room as a welcoming guest retreat—thoughtfully designed to support comfort and accessibility today, while easily adapting to accomodate future grandchildren.
The challenge was to create a space that felt light and airy while remaining comfortably furnished—an inviting retreat for any guest. Personal items were thoughtfully organized within a versatile closet system, discreetly concealed behind bespoke custom doors. A note of sophisticated whimsy was introduced through a petite chandelier and a bookcase curated with treasured memories, while a writing desk positioned toward the courtyard captures the soft morning light.
Pink and baby blue gave way to a richer palette of coral and blue, layered with textured blankets, patterned rugs, and a bolster pillow to keep the room from feeling overly youthful. In the end, both the young—and the young at heart—are embraced by the warmth of this newly created place of slumber.
